SEEKING: [CHENAULT] A beautiful, 25 year old, translucent vision from Connecticut, with a killer smile and a wry, enigmatic personality, she wears barely-there sarongs, sunbathes nude, and oozes sexuality in everything she does. She enchants and mesmerizes Kemp from the moment they meet: while both escaping a tedious, high-end party. Chenault is dating and possibly engaged to Sanderson, but clearly feels an attraction to Kemp. She’s a daredevil who loves to dance and drive fast. STORY LINE: 1960: Divorced alcoholic and struggling novelist PAUL KEMP decides to kick around San Juan until his ship comes in, working as a journalist for a daily newspaper that’s on its last legs, drinking gallons of rum and experimenting with LSD. With his new friend BOB SALA by his side, he becomes entangled in a corrupt hotel development scheme with a slick PR consultant named SANDERSON, and falls in love with Sanderson’s unattainable girlfriend, CHENAULT. . .

i’m very excited to see another hunter book translated in movie form. hopefully they’ll do it justice. i can’t think of anybody for chenault though…

Not keeping it true to the book then and perhaps adding some artistic licence.

Yeah looks like a bit of a change however I am confident Johnny won’t fuck this up. Some people might not like the idea of changes but it happens with almost every book to film adaptation. We all know Johnny can pull off a bit of LSD experimentation 😀 Maybe they want to show a bit of a connection with Fear and Loathing. For all we know Hunter might have suggested it before he went on his way, none of us really know what Hunter and Johnny came up with regarding the film.
Woah…I’d forgotten about this film completely! Sure took ’em long enough. Hope this doesn’t turn out like the 4th Indy film-ugh–but more like “The Two Jakes” (Yes, I know it’s not a sequel).
Scarlett J. is a good choice, but how about a reunion of Depp and Keira Knightly? She’s pretty “translucent”, and they had SUCH chemistry in “Pirates”, bad breath & body odor notwithstanding.
I agree about the LSD trip–bad form! Stick to the rum, esp. in San Juan.
